Youth Leadership Positions and Responsibilities

The Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) is the senior youth leader for the Troop. He must hold at least the rank of First Class Scout, have been a member of Troop 429 for at least one year, and possess the Scoutmaster's recommendation. The Senior Patrol Leader is elected first by the scouts as the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL), and ascends to the Senior Patrol Leader position after having served as ASPL for six months. The SPL then serves for six aditional months.
The Senior Patrol Leader is responsible for:

The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) must hold at least the rank of First Class. The ASPL is elected by the troop and approved by the Scoutmaster. After six months acting as ASPL, he graduates to the role of the Senior Patrol Leader.
The Assistant Senior Patrol Leader is responsible for:

The Troop Guide is appointed by the Scoutmaster and must hold at least the rank of Star Scout and be proficient in advancement skills.

The Patrol Leader may be elected by the members of his patrol or selected by the Scoutmaster on the recommendation of the SPL. He takes responsibility for the patrol's activities and represents the patrol as a member of the Patrol Leaders' Council.
